Making the little moments count!
Having Jaycee in the NICU limits our time with her, so anytime we are up to visit we make the most out of it. For the first two weeks we were so excited to go and change your diaper, take your temperature, and swab your mouth. Well Mommy and Daddy decided that just wasn't enough for us. So we started bringing up books to read to you. Mommy and Daddy have always talked about how when we have children we want to have a bedtime ritual our kids will remember and look forward to eveynight. So we decided to start our ritual now. At your 8:00 care time we do all of your cares and tuck you in tight. Then mommy or daddy read you a bedtime story. You love hearing the story and you look so calm and content while you listen and gaze at Mommy or Daddy. After your story Mommy always says a little prayer for you. Mommy and Daddy don't leave until you are asleep and look content. Leaving you everynight is one of the hardest things Mommy and Daddy have had to do. We miss you the second we leave and can't wait until the next morning to go see you again. Some of the little things we find so much joy in while we visit is watching you move around, watching you peek at us, weighing you everynight and so proud when you have gained weight, combing your hair with a little tooth brush, holding your hand, hearing your cry and comforting you, we could go on and on. We know the best place for you right now is right where you are. Mommy and Daddy find comfort in knowing how well the nurses and doctors take care of you and that God is with you every single second that we are not. We have heard that guradian angels fill the NICU and that helps Mommy to sleep a little better at night. You are definatly our little angel and we will love and take care of your every need. I am sure Mommy, Daddy, and you will create many more rituals when you come home that will last a life time, until then know that you are in our minds and thoughts every minute of the day!!!! Love You Jaycee.
